“My Choice”
Hello, hope all is well. Summer is still going. Hope you are finding some ways to enjoy this time of the year.
A pretty quick blog today. I wanted to share something with you from last week!
I have mentioned that exercise/workouts have always been a big deal to me. It was a mix of physical workouts and a counseling appointment. I always felt physically and mentally better. The majority of that work was done by myself in my own garage. Over the years I had accumulated some excellent workout equipment from kettlebells, weights, TRX band, an excellent rowing machine and many other items. Exercise became a core part of how I lived my life.
My brain surgery in March of 2021 wiped out exercise. For 3-4 months I physically felt bad and mentally thought the whole process of working out while getting ready to die seemed pretty pointless. The last six months I tried to get started and had a hard time sticking with it. That is slowly changing.
I am sharing this to impress no one. I am sharing for some personal commitment and encouragement to some of you. The last month I have gotten back at it, slowly but developing some consistency.
Last week was my best week since my surgery. I worked out 4 times and the last two were some of my best workouts since my major surgery. The weight is no where close to what I use to use. That is not a big deal and not why I am choosing to do this.
I am enjoying the workouts again, a big change. The bigger idea is, I am still alive. I have passed the normal time line to survive, Glioblastoma. The norm is 6-18 months. It is a very aggressive brain tumor. I am so grateful to still be here and able to do some things I have always enjoyed and appreciated the opportunity to do.
What might be some things for you that you use to enjoy doing and somehow it slipped away? What has kept you from doing that?
There are many things in this life that simply fad away if we let go. Some of those things require some energy and time that is harder to find. It is worth it! I want to encourage you. Get back to it or figure out a way to get going again with some activities you use to enjoy.
I have no idea how long I will be able to continue working out. I am sharing this today to create some accountability and stay after it. If I am doing this my health is still pretty good. I’ll take that!!
Never forget …… “You are Loved and of Great Value.”
